Shipco Transport Container Tracking

Open the tracker at shipco.com

Track a Shipco Transport shipment on the official page at shipco.com/track-search, which takes a container number, a bill of lading or a booking reference. One thing to know before you start: Shipco is an NVOCC — a consolidator that books cargo without operating vessels or owning containers. The steel box in your shipment belongs to an ocean carrier or a leasing company, so its number begins with their prefix, not with a Shipco code. Paste the number into the checker below and it will name the registered owner.

Shipco Transport moves a great deal of freight and owns none of the equipment it moves it in. That is not a criticism — it is the definition of a non-vessel-operating common carrier, and it is why tracking a Shipco shipment works differently from tracking a Maersk one.

Two tracking questions hide behind one search. Where is my shipment, which Shipco answers from its own system against the paperwork it issued you; and whose container am I looking at, which only the owner prefix can answer.

4 letters + 7 digits, printed on the doors. It is on your bill of lading too.

The answer appears as you type. Nothing is sent anywhere.

Is Shipco Transport a shipping line?

No. Shipco consolidates cargo from many customers into containers it books from ocean carriers, which is a different business from operating ships. When you book with Shipco you receive a house bill of lading from Shipco; the carrier that actually sails the box issues a master bill of lading to Shipco, not to you.

The practical consequence: your house B/L number works on Shipco’s tracker and nowhere else. If you take that number to the ocean carrier’s site it will return nothing, which is the single most common reason people conclude their shipment has vanished.

The SHPT prefix that is not in the register

Several tracking sites tell readers that Shipco containers carry the prefix “SHPT”. We looked SHPT up in the BIC register and it returned no entry, on a day when other codes we checked the same way resolved normally. A shipper who searches for SHPT will find nothing, and will reasonably assume their number is wrong when it is not.

What you will actually see on the doors is the prefix of whichever line or lessor owns that box — MSCU, TGHU, CAIU and so on. The container number checker resolves any of them against our prefix registry, and the owner’s own tracker is then one click away.

Which number to use, and where

Start with the document you were given. A Shipco house B/L belongs on shipco.com; a container number belongs on the owning carrier’s site once you know who that is; a booking reference works on whichever system created it.

If all you have is the number stencilled on the container, begin there — the first four letters identify the owner, and from that point you are tracking with the line that carries the box rather than with the company that sold you the space.

The box itself

Who owns the container
An ocean carrier or a leasing company — never the consolidator. The prefix on the door names the owner.

Third-party tracking sites publish "SHPT" as a Shipco container prefix. We looked SHPT up in the BIC register on 2026-09-17 and it returned no entry, while codes we checked the same way the same day (for example ACLU) resolved normally. Shipco is a consolidator: the boxes in its bookings carry the prefixes of the ocean carriers and lessors that own them.

Frequently asked questions

Is Shipco Transport a carrier?

Not in the vessel-operating sense: Shipco is an NVOCC that consolidates cargo into containers booked from ocean carriers, so it issues bills of lading but owns neither ships nor boxes.

What is the Shipco container prefix?

Shipco has none in the BIC register — we checked SHPT, the code several tracking sites publish, and it returned no entry. Containers in Shipco bookings carry the prefix of the line or lessor that owns them.

Why does my Shipco B/L not work on the carrier website?

Because it is a house bill of lading, issued by Shipco to you; the ocean carrier only knows the master bill of lading it issued to Shipco. Use the house number on shipco.com and the container number on the carrier’s site.

How do I find which shipping line is carrying my Shipco container?

Read the four letters at the start of the container number and look them up — they are the owner code. The checker on this page names the registered owner and links to that company’s official tracker.
