The pattern: almost nothing common fails the standard door. The genuine failures are tall machinery, some agricultural equipment and crated industrial loads over 2.28 m — exactly the cargo the open top and flat rack exist for.
The letterbox effect, in numbers

Height is where loads get caught: a crate that stands happily inside the box can still be 10 cm too tall for the frame. How the doors are built
Two steel door leaves, each carrying two vertical lock rods that rotate cams into keepers on the top and bottom rails — four rods total, which is why a sealed container is secured at eight points. The leaves swing 270° back flat against the container sides and tie off for loading. A continuous rubber gasket around each leaf makes the box wind- and water-tight; when a used container leaks, the gasket is the usual suspect, and the classic test is to close yourself inside and look for daylight.
Door hardware: what wears, what it costs
Door hardware fails in a predictable order. The gaskets go first: the rubber hardens and cracks after 10–15 years, and daylight at the seal means water follows — replacement runs about $100–200 per door in parts plus a few hours of work. Next come the lock rods and cams: bent rods and worn cam/keeper pairs make doors stiff long before they make them insecure; penetrating oil and keeper adjustment cure most cases, and replacement rods are inexpensive bolt-on parts. Hinges fail last: a door that sags or refuses to align has usually dropped on worn hinge pins. Mild sag is fixed by adjustment and shimming; a door that must be lifted into position needs re-hanging — a welding job, and on a cheap box often the point where replacing the unit beats repairing it.
When one end is not enough
Doors at both ends: the double door (tunnel) container — load and unload without reversing anything out, or split the box into two compartments. Full side access for forklifting any pallet directly: the open-side variant with bi-fold doors along one wall. Both keep the standard end-door dimensions.
